Privacy policy

Last updated 12 October 2026. This policy covers the Kundly app and this website.

In plain words

  • We use your birth details to calculate your chart, and your phone number to let you sign in. We do not sell your data, show ads or track you across apps.
  • Vani’s answers are written by an AI model. Only if you allow it, your question, the recent chat, the first names of people you ask about and the calculated chart facts are sent to OpenAI (or Anthropic or Google when OpenAI is unavailable) to write the answer. Your phone number is never sent. You can switch this off any time.
  • Reminders are set on your phone: no push server sends them. Share cards and the home-screen widget are made on your phone too.
  • Only if you allow it, the app counts a few things about how it is used, such as the days you open it and which reminders you turn on, to see whether it helps. Never your messages, chart or place.
  • Birth details, names, messages and answers are encrypted in our database.
  • You can see, export, correct or delete your data in the app, and delete your whole account in a few seconds.

Who we are

Kundly is provided by Kundly (“we”). We decide how and why your personal data is used, which makes us the data fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Contact us at support@GetKundly.com.

What we collect, and why

Your phone number

You sign in with your mobile number. We send it to our SMS provider so that it can text you a one-time code. We do not store the number itself: your account identifier is derived from it in a way that does not reveal it.

Your name, gender and birth details

Your first name, gender if you give it, and your date, time and place of birth, with how sure you are of the time, are needed to calculate your chart. When you correct them we keep the new version and use it from then on; earlier versions stay with your account so you can see what changed, until you delete the person or the account.

People you add

If you add someone else, such as a partner for kundli matching, you confirm that they have agreed; the app will not save their details without that confirmation. If they are under 18, add them only as their parent or legal guardian. Their details are used only for what you ask about them.

Conversations with Vani

Your questions and Vani’s answers are stored so that you can return to a conversation and so that follow-up questions make sense.

Settings

Your language, matching system and the place used for your panchang. Your preferred chart style (North or South Indian) and your reminder choices stay on your phone.

Approximate location, only if you allow it

If you tap “Use my location”, the app asks for approximate location only, rounds the coordinates to about a kilometre on your phone, and saves the nearest town as your panchang place, so sunrise and Rahu kaal are right for where you are. Your phone’s own map service (Apple or Google) names the town. On this website, the Rahu kaal calculator uses your location only inside your browser; it is never sent to us.

What you agreed to

We record when you accepted the terms and this policy, and when you allowed or withdrew AI processing or usage counts, with the version of the notice you saw, so that we can show what you agreed to.

Answers you report

If you report an answer as offensive, harmful or wrong, we keep your report, any note you add and a link to that answer, so that our team can review it and improve Vani.

Reminders

The reminders you choose (the morning thought, festivals and vrats, Rahu kalam and Abhijit alerts, and milestones such as a new dasha period) are scheduled on your phone. To write them, the app fetches the next two weeks of your daily thought, panchang timings and festival dates from our server, the same calculations the Today screen shows, and keeps them on your phone. No push server receives or sends them, and we collect no device or notification identifier. Which reminders you chose stays on your phone; we see it only if you allow usage counts. They pause if you stop opening the app. On Android, milestone reminders are hidden on the lock screen.

The home-screen widget and share cards

The widget shows the same panchang as the app, from the days the app keeps on your phone. A share card is drawn on your phone from what you see in its preview, without birth details, doshas or the Manglik result; you choose where to send it, and we do not see what you share or with whom.

Usage counts, only if you allow them

To see whether Kundly is useful (whether people come back, which reminders help), the app can send us a few counts per day: how many times you opened it; which kinds of reminder you have switched on and whether notifications are allowed; how many reminders of each kind you opened, and whether within two hours of arriving; how many cards you shared and of which kind; which kind of suggested question you tapped; whether the widget is on your home screen and which version of the widget suggestion you saw; and the app version and whether the phone is Android or iPhone. They are stored with your account identifier. They never include your messages, names, birth details, places, contacts or a device identifier, and we use them only to improve the app, never for advertising.

This is optional and off unless you tick it, after sign-in or in Me → Privacy → Usage counts. Switching it off stops the counts at once and deletes what was recorded.

Technical records

To keep the service running and secure we keep limited technical records: request counts for rate limits, error types, and a log of account actions (for example that data was exported or an account deleted) under your account identifier. To apply the daily limit on questions, the app counts the questions you have asked today from the times they were asked. These never contain your messages, names, places or coordinates.

The free trial on this website

If you try Vani on this website without signing in, we collect only what you enter there: a first name, gender if you give it, your birth details and your questions, together with your agreement to the terms and to AI processing. They are used to calculate your chart and answer you, and they are deleted automatically within 24 hours. Your browser keeps a temporary key so a reload continues the same trial; the trial is limited to a few questions, counted per trial and per network.

This website

The website sets no cookies and has no advertising trackers.

What we do not collect

The app has no advertising software and no third-party analytics or tracking software, and does not read your contacts, photos, files, precise location or other apps. We do not collect payment details.

AI model providers

Vani’s answers are written by large language models run by the providers below. Kundly calculates every chart fact itself; the model reads your question, decides which calculations to show, and writes the answer around them. We send data to these providers only after you allow it, in the app or by ticking the box on the free trial.

ProviderWhere it processes dataWhat it does
OpenAI, L.L.C.United StatesWrites answers
Anthropic, PBCUnited StatesWrites answers when OpenAI is unavailable
Google LLC (Gemini API)United StatesWrites answers when the others are unavailable

What is sent with each question:

  • the text of your message, and the last few messages of the same conversation;
  • the first names of people you have saved or ask about, and how they are related to you;
  • the chart facts calculated for the answer, such as planet positions, houses, yogas and dasha periods.

What is not sent: your phone number or account identifier, and your birth date, time and place as such, unless you type them into a message yourself.

How the providers may use it: only to process the request and return the answer. Under the business terms that apply to our accounts, they may not use it to train their models. They may keep it for a limited time, typically up to 30 days, to detect abuse and comply with the law, and then delete it.

Your choice: AI processing is optional. Without it you can still see your kundli, dashas, panchang and matching, which are calculated by our own software; only asking Vani needs it. Switch it on or off in Me → Privacy → Answers written with AI. Switching it off stops new data being sent at once.

AI-written text can contain mistakes. Chart facts in an answer are checked against the calculation before you see it, but explanations are the model’s own words. Use your own judgement, and report any answer that seems wrong.

Each provider processes data on our behalf, for the purpose above, under its contract with us. Several of them, including the AI providers, process data outside India, mainly in the United States. We share only what each needs. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful order.

How your data is protected

  • Birth details, names, messages, answers, settings and report notes are encrypted in our database (AES-256-GCM), with keys kept apart from the data.
  • Every request is checked against your account, so one account cannot reach another’s data.
  • Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) only.
  • Only a small number of our staff can look at an account, only to resolve a problem or a request, and each look is logged.

If a breach affecting your personal data happens, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Your account, people, chats and settings: until you delete them or your account.
  • Records of what you agreed to, and your reports: with your account; a report goes when you delete its conversation.
  • Usage counts: until you switch them off, which deletes them, or delete your account.
  • Free-trial data on this website: deleted within 24 hours.
  • Database backups: overwritten in the normal backup cycle, within 7 days of a deletion.
  • Technical records: only as long as needed for security and to meet legal obligations.
  • With the AI providers: as described above.

Deleting your data

  • A saved person: Me → the person → the bin icon removes their birth details, every earlier version and their calculated chart.
  • A conversation: the bin icon in your list of chats.
  • Your account: Me → Delete my account, then type DELETE. Your charts, saved people and chats are erased, and nothing about you is written afterwards.

If you cannot use the app, see how to delete your account by email.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can:

  • get a summary of your data: Me → Export my data gives you everything we hold, as a file;
  • correct or complete it: edit your birth details in Me, or write to us;
  • erase it, as described above;
  • withdraw consent: switch off AI processing or usage counts in Me → Privacy, or delete your account;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you cannot;
  • have a grievance addressed.

Write to support@GetKundly.com from the app’s contact link or by email. We reply promptly, and in any case within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

Kundly is for people aged 18 and over, and you confirm your age when you sign up. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 except a child’s birth details added by their parent or guardian.

Sensitive topics

Vani does not predict death, lifespan, illness or medical outcomes, and refers questions about health, mental health or pregnancy to professionals. It gives no medical, legal or financial advice. If a message suggests someone is in distress, Vani replies with support and helplines. Please do not share health or financial details in your questions: Vani does not need them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above. If a change affects what you agreed to, such as a new AI provider, the app will show it to you and ask again before anything changes for you.
